The Story
1791. Switzerland. As revolution roars across neighbouring France, a fragile Confederacy trembles. Cantons bicker. Alliances crumble. Foreign powers circle. Somewhere between the Alps and anarchy, a nameless fugitive races for his life — clutching a scroll that could stop it all.
There’s just one problem: a blow to the head erases his past, his purpose... and possibly his common sense. Now pursued by enemies he can’t even remember, outwitted by peasants, and undone by dubious gruel, he must stumble through a comedy of errors, absurd intrigues, and the occasional duel to reclaim his past.
With a nation on the brink, and his amnesia a ticking time bomb, the questions only multiply: will he recall who he is before it’s too late? Or will Switzerland fall? Is he the traitor everyone seeks — or simply history’s hapless fool?
Vain, blundering, bold, and possibly the most wanted man in the Confederacy, he might — just might — change the course of history... if he doesn’t trip over his own sword first.
Written in the grand tradition of eighteenth‑century satire, Vain & Valour fuses adventure, wit, and moving introspection.
